Frequently Asked Questions

Import your game files directly from the Files app on iPhone or iPad. Retro Handheld is designed so you can bring in your library without an account, without online setup, and without extra downloads before you start playing.
Retro Handheld currently supports Game Boy (.gb), Game Boy Color (.gbc), Game Boy Advance (.gba), NES (.nes), Super NES (.smc, .sfc, .fig), Sega Genesis (.gen, .md), Nintendo 64 (.n64, .z64, .v64), and PlayStation (.bin, .cue, .iso, .pbp, .chd, .ecm). No. Retro Handheld is built for offline play and does not require an account. The current emulator cores are bundled inside the app, and PlayStation support works with bundled OpenBIOS, so there is nothing extra to download before you play.
Retro Handheld supports Xbox Wireless Controller, PlayStation DualSense and DualShock 4, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, MFi controllers, and Bluetooth keyboards. Button mapping is set up automatically for each console, and you can also use on-screen touch controls.
You can create save states at any point during a game. Retro Handheld also auto-saves when you exit and offers one-tap resume when you come back, so you can keep progress even when you leave mid-session.
Retro Handheld supports Game Genie, GameShark, and Action Replay codes. Add codes per game, save them for later, and toggle individual cheats on or off whenever you want without re-entering them every time.
Yes. On iPad you can choose fullscreen play or a retro TV shell for supported systems. You can also adjust scanline effects, color filters, volume, and haptic feedback to match the style you want.
No. Retro Handheld does not include games. You must own the original cartridge or disc to legally use game files with the app, and you are responsible for the content you import.
